Author Kristy Holt and illustrator Rebecca Wyatt met on the sandy shores of Carolina Beach, where they quickly bonded over their love for adventure, nature, and the ocean. Their playful question, “Want to play mermaids?” became a fun tradition, encouraging them to explore the beach and the waves together. As their creative partnership grew, Kristy realized that Rebecca was the perfect choice to illustrate her ideas.

Kristy is also the founder of Eco Chic Blossoms, a beautiful floral design company in Wilmington, North Carolina. She lives in Carolina Beach with her husband, adventurous daughter, and two energetic Siberian huskies.

In contrast, Rebecca, originally from Carolina Beach, now lives in Virginia with a lively mix of pets including horses, dogs, cats, chickens, axolotls, fish, and many plants.

Together, they create stories that inspire and spark imaginations, embodying the spirit of the mermaids they adore.
